the christmas season is around the corner! i haven't actually calculated it myself, but i think i saw somewhere that there are only 10 weeks until christmas. for those of you who enjoy sending out cards to friends and family for christmas or new year's, i have the session for you!

it's a simple, super-fast, sweet little session for the sole purpose of capturing that annual family portrait -- captivating style. you'll be thrilled with the end result -- all because you showed up and let me [make goofy sounds at your children in an effort to get them to think i'm crazy -- i mean smile...] shoot some portraits of your little family in the twinkling of an eye!

  • limited number of sessions available
  • at Celebration Ranch (about 10 minutes outside of Roseburg)

  • includes an online gallery of 10-15 un-retouched proof images
  • and 25-5x7 flat cards incorporating your favorite image

P.S. captivating is teaming up with amy from amy holst limelight images who is also offering this fun and fresh annual-family-portrait-capturing-mini-session! if you book soon -- you should be able to spend part of a saturday morning hanging out with ONE of US!

i photographed amy & her family a couple weeks ago and it was fun to shoot another photographer's family portraits -- she knew what she had in mind -- her vision was to hang out and ROCK ON with her family. they even ended up with an audience!

  1. Aww, I have just been looking through your pics today, because my friend, Julia Otis was so excited about you. :-) You are awesome!

I am going to nominate my family, although I don't live with them anymore. (Got married and moved out.)
They are just the bomb, and make my life sparkle. My babies just light up when their aunt and uncles come over, and my son flies across the room with his arms as wide as he can get them to claim his hugs. Cracks me up to watch my big tall brothers hunker down on the floor with the kids and squirm around, making faces to get the babies to laugh. My dad can make them scream with laughter or calm down from a bad mood. My mom snuggles them and loves on them and gives me such awesome support as I fuddle my way through motherhood.
I don't think they've had a family picture taken since... well, about 8 years ago. My dad is the family "photographer," so he's rarely in front of the lens, and it's hard to get the whole gang together at once.
They all have such awesome personality. It would be sweet to get some pics of them.

  2. I would have to nominate some very close friends of ours who just got married. Jaques and Erika Maritz. This isnt a first marriage for either of them so it was a small peacful wedding at Cooper Creek. They didnt have a photographer, because everything was planned in one day. Now that they are married they need a family photo of them and the kids. I'm so thankful to have them as my friends. They drop everything to help us. When I first moved here Erika gave me a room to stay in at her house and has taken very good care of me. They would give you a kindey if you asked them too. ;) They are just so giving there are way too many things to list. I think its time for something to be given back to them!! Thanks for your time again!!!
    God Bless
    Julia

  3. I would love to nominate my lil' family of my precious Emma and my hubby BUT... I'm going to nominate someone else instead! I am nominating my parents for this lil' mini-session giveaway. My parents, Richard & Judy are the true un-sung heroes of our family. When Blessing and I found out we were pregnant last year, they graciously opened their house as a place we could live when we came back to the USA in October 2008. They have provided us a car and are the go-to people when we need someone to watch Miss Emma. They are so giving of their time and resources to me and my two sisters, to my nieces and nephews, and to anyone who has a genuine need that they can help out with. They have done mission trips to LA, Alaska, and have been to India a few times and are going back next year! Dad and Mom have bailed each of us girls out of so many 'jams' our entire lives (as parents do) but have never recieved any sort of recognition for it. I think they would really benefit from a photo session that's not 'canned' like so many these days. I bet Kellie could actually capture their real true smiles and love of life. So there it is... I nominate Richard and Judy!

  4. I would like to nominate my sister, Andy. Our family has had a really tough year, that started out with the unexpected loss of her husband in January. He was just 30 years old and left behind my sister Andy, and their baby boy Cael.
I really think this would be an incredible blessing for her, to have some beautiful pictures of the two of them. Sort of an encouragement that even though daddy can't be with them anymore, they are going to keep going, and bravely make new happy memories.

  5. I would love to nominate my sister Joanne and her family. This has been a difficult year for them. Struggling with their youngest sons many allergies, with insurance and doctors not believing her about the seriousness until he swelled up and had to be rushed to the ER. Now he is being tested for Cystic Fibrosis. Financial stuggles, she was rear-ended a month ago and has been without a car, and the list goes on. I don't think they have ever had family pictures done and this would be nice. A moment to let go, enjoy each other and forget about their problems, even for just a moment. I think they deserve it because they are my family . . . and I love them.

  8. I feel honored to nominate the Hahn family, because I am honored to be their friend. Amber and Gary have two precious little boys. They have been through more tragedy than most people in a whole lifetime. To Amber losing her sister and niece 4 years ago, to their most recent trial of Gary's mom battling cancer. And yet everyday I'm inspired by their hope and strength. They have taught me not to dwell on the little things. To celebrate each day, for it is a gift. I hope they win!

  9. Kellie,
I am choosing to be selfish and am nominating my family! We havent had a family picture taken since Noah was 18 months. We would love to have a family picture with all 4 of us.... and I really like your work.! Listing 5 things I am thankful for in 2009 is easy for me:

    1. God's continual renewal of our hearts, marriage, and family. A true miracle and an amazing journey.

    2. My husband. Scott is my best friend, an awesome dad, and a true leader of our home.

    3. Grace. We call her our miracle child. Born on January 17th, God's timing! We were close to losing her 5 weeks later and we are sooo thankful God healed her. She is strong and beautiful!

4.Noah. His name means peace and comfort. God has used this little boy in amazing ways already, and he's only 3!

    5. Peace. Despite all the stress that came this year with Scott losing his job just days before Grace was born, with Grace's illness and recovery, the financial strain, and adjustment of going back to work full time, God has continually showed us that HE alone brings peace that passes all understanding!

  10. Hi Kellie,

I would love to nominate our daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Scott Evans and their children Noah and Grace. They have not had a family picture done in several years and Grace who is nine months old has never had a professional picture taken. Because they are my precious family I appreciate their life story which is truly one of God's miracles.

Thank you for allowing us to nominate The Evans Family.

Your photograpy is beautiful and creative work. I hope you get lots of business from Salem!

  11. Kellie,

I would love to nominate my daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Scott Evans and their children, Noah and Grace. They have not had a family picture taken of them for several years. Because they are my beloved family I know their story, one that truly is a miracle from God in restoring their marriage, and healing their little baby girl. Many people have been encouraged and blessed by their courage to take God at His Word and trust Him for peace and love that never fails. Please consider them for your special promotion.

Thank you for allowing me to nominate the Evans Family.

  12. I would love to nominate my most favorite 15 yr old friend, Brittney Eagan. Despite her painful past of losing her sister, who was wheelchair bound from birth, to her disease when Brittney was in 1st grade and her sister only a year or 2 older and subsequently being the victim to her parents divorce not long after, Brittney has grown (is GROWING) into one of the most beautiful souls I know.

She never complains of the trials she's had to endure, nor of the trials she may find herself in currently. She was forced to grow up very quickly, but again, never complained . She always has a smile on her face, is THEE most sincerely polite 15 yr old I know, and is extremely talented.

She discovered, and pursued on her own, her gift of singing and acting and has been auditioning (and starring) in practically any play available since jr. high. She has taken a Greyhound to Seattle for a commercial audition, which she was offered. She takes singing and piano lessons, and no doubt is a director's dream come true as she takes every last word of constructive criticism to heart, making sure to show improvement with each audition....with each opportunity, period.

This girl is a mature, loving, kind-hearted, selfless 40 yr old in a 15 yr olds body!!

I KNOW having her picture taken by a professional would only add to the richness of her portfolio. I would love for her to be given the gift of a "head shot", as this girl has aspirations of Hollywood and Broadway. And she'll find herself there..someday.

What a generous gift you're offering, Kells...I love that you're doing this. It is REALLY gonna bless someone!! Thank you!

Good luck to Kev in the big drawing tomorrow! :)

  13. Hope I made it by the cut!!!
I have been mulling over my nomination decision and have decided to throw my fabulous parents into the hat for the big drawing day.
I don't believe my parents have had a picture taken of just the 2 of them since their wedding day 30-some years ago!
I already knew this before, but it simply confirmed it more, after they allowed my husband, babe and I to move back into their home over the past year while we built a home, that these 2 people are the most sacrificial and accomodating parents God gave to 2 kids. Their undying love and ability to lay down their rights/comforts/finances/schedules/closets/LIVES for their children and grandchild is evident in so many ways that I can't even list. I thank God for giving me the picture of His love through them, so that I could more fully understand on earth what it looks like for one to lay down his/her life for another in the truest sense (as much as us humans on earth can understand and accomplish in natural terms).
Kellie, you make the people on the other side of your lens feel beautiful, special and esteemed and I so desire my parents to be granted this gift as a small thank you for all they give to my brother and I are our families.
